Hey Everyone!
What's happening? Recording Big New Town has been quite a ride, we are having a sweet time tracking! Acoustics are almost completed now and then it's on to vocals. Come on out to the show this Saturday night at the Lotus in Portland, 9:30pm where we'll be showcasing the new material. We'll also keep you updated on the progress of the new album, right here. Best!

BIG NEW TOWN UPDATE!
Hey everyone, it's been a while since we've posted news on the progress of the new record, there's much to report and we owe you some skinny!
We've been recording weekly and working hard, laying down tracks, polishing guitars, experimenting and finally last week, we've completed the first final vocal tracks to the title song, Big New Town.
YOUR FEEDBACK & THE 94.7 KILLERS COMPETITION
We'd love to give you a taste of the new record and get your feedback. Below is a video we put together to a pre-mixed version of the song.
We entered it in the KNRK competition where the winner will open up for the Killers at the Memorial Coliseum, September 24th. There are some pretty awesome videos already submitted from Portland bands we admire like Throwback Suburbia and we are just stoked to be a part of the competition.
SO, WHEN WILL THE RECORD BE DONE?!
18 tracks on this record is taking us longer than we expected and while we are semi-proud to say that we *might* have bit off near more than we can chew expecting it to be done mid-2009, we are even more excited to tell you we are pressing mach-5 with each and every tune. We're spending more time with each track, experimenting with new styles and paying closer attention to details and Big New Town is definitely all about The Reds' evolving sound. We can't wait for you to hear it.
If you have any feedback for us on this tune here or the video, we'd love to hear it. Post your comments here in the blog and we'll check them all out. Thanks!

Just finished our first night of recording drums and they sounded killer!!!
We worked on "You Went On", "The Valley Song" and "My Heroin".
The recording went off without a hitch. The way the drum kit was miked up was a thing of beauty. It was great to hear Mikey lay down the drums - he did nearly everything we worked on in one take.
It's awesome to hear the album come together and I think this album shows a lot of our maturity as players and writers.

Official recording of drums starts on Friday/Saturday and the whole band is excited. Listening to the raw tracks at home is cool but hearing more and more of the instruments get layered is really great. You really get to hear the tracks come to life.
We'll be sure to give everyone updates on how the recording goes this weekend!

Hey Joel, and Gang!
We're enthusiastically awaiting the posters' arrival. Once we get them up, you'll have to stop by Anytime Fitness Esther Short Park and check 'em out - Make sure they're in good places. There aren't as many options for placement at the Van Mall location, but you are certainly welcome to check them out there too.

Hey Tracy!
I shipped off a tube of the new Reds' Big New town posters to your downtown location today, about half of them signed and the others plain. Thanks big-time for helping us promote the upcoming record, we are stoked to see our friends and fans get jazzed-up because we are too and we can't wait to get it out there to everyone!

Hey guys ... Just wanted to give everyone a update on the "Big New Town" recording from a fan's perspective. We haven't started recording drums yet, so that's my role ... The Reds #1 fan. It's the best seat in the house!
I wish we could record the album in a big warehouse somewhere so everyone could stop by and see the cool things that are going into this album. These guys (except that lazy drummer) are amazing! The songs are evolving in unexpected ways from how we originally wrote them and how we play them on stage. It's pretty sweet to watch happen.
On a more personal note ... I really need to start recording drums! After everyone finishes their part, Dustin puts a computer drum track behind everything ... and it sounds cool! That little bastard keeps perfect time and the drum tones are as sweet as they can possibly be. Pretty soon I'll be out of a job.
I'll try and keep everyone updated. You're gonna love it.

Let me first say that I'm extremely excited to have a Reds blog up and running. I hope fans, friends and family will stop by to say hello, offer comments and bring cool ideas to the table.
The recording process has been exciting and different than any other album that we've made. Each song has had a lot of time put into it. I'm especially proud of the diversity you will here on this record. Expect adventurous arrangements, melodic bass lines, big drum builds, diverse guitar parts and lyrics that truly take you on a journey.
Each song tells a story and we think it shows.

Hey all Reds friends, fans and family!
This shiny new blog is officially launched! If you want to know where the new record Big New Town is at, we'll keep you posted right here. Recording the 3rd CD has so far been an enormously cool task and a hugely gratifying experience to boot. We have been recording scratch tracks in preparation alone for almost 3 months straight at our studio in Vancouver and are just now moving into recording drums (go Mikey!).
So many cool little things happen during the recording process and tackling each new obstacle or learning of brand new ways of doing things is really awesome. This record will be home to 15-18 or so tracks, many brand new ones you haven't heard including one we recorded on the fly one night right in the studio! We are stoked to be working on it and can't wait for you to hear it. We'll keep you in the loop right here.
